Origin and character’s universe
Released in 1978 and directed by Richard Donner, the landmark film Superman stands as a seminal work of superhero cinema. Standing in opposition to the purity and divine power of Clark Kent, played by Christopher Reeve, is the most brilliant criminal mind on Earth: Lex Luthor, portrayed in a masterful and eccentric manner by actor Gene Hackman. Devoid of superpowers, this sociopathic billionaire uses his extraordinary intelligence to orchestrate a Machiavellian plan to hijack nuclear missiles in order to trigger a major earthquake along the San Andreas Fault. His aim is to sink the American west coast to send the value of the desert land he has secretly purchased soaring. Knowing his rival’s weaknesses, he uses Kryptonite—a radioactive fragment from the hero’s destroyed home planet—as the ultimate weapon to neutralise him. This figurine pays a nostalgic tribute to the saga’s most memorable villain.
