Origin and universe of the character
Released in 1977, George Lucas’s seminal masterpiece, Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope, laid the foundations for a mythological universe spanning generations. The plot opens with the capture of Princess Leia Organa’s ship by the tyrannical Darth Vader. Just before being taken prisoner, the young senator entrusts the secret plans for the Death Star and a priority distress message to R2-D2’s memory bank. Stranded on the desert planet of Tatooine with his companion C-3PO, the droid is bought by the young Luke Skywalker. It is whilst cleaning the astromech droid’s circuits that Luke accidentally triggers the hologram of the princess, kneeling and uttering her immortal plea: ‘Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi. You are my only hope. ” This iconic moment marks the beginning of a legendary saga, making this Deluxe set an essential addition to your display.
