Origin and background of the character
Spider-Man, the alter ego of Peter Parker, is the most iconic, popular and universal superhero in the Marvel universe, created by writer Stan Lee and artist Steve Ditko. After being bitten by a radioactive spider, this young New York student acquires extraordinary powers, including strength proportional to that of a spider, superhuman agility, the ability to cling to walls and a precious "spider-sense" that alerts him to danger. Guided by the timeless philosophy that “with great power comes great responsibility”, he fights crime whilst navigating the challenges of his everyday life.
