SPIDER-MAN - Marvel's Smythe - Figure Legend Series 15cm

From the Spider-Man universe, this Hasbro Marvel Legends action figure depicts Alistair Smythe in his cybernetic form, as he appears in the 1994 animated series *Spider-Man: The Animated Series*. Standing approximately 15 cm tall, it features the design of the Ultimate Spider-Slayer and boasts full articulation, allowing you to recreate various poses inspired by his battles with Spider-Man.

The sculpt captures Smythe’s particularly imposing appearance following his transformation: a heavily muscled cybernetic body, grey-blue skin, long extensions extending from his shoulders, and organic and mechanical elements integrated into his form. This physique, which differs greatly from his human form, directly reflects his forced transformation into a weapon designed to battle Spider-Man in the animated series.

The figure features over 20 points of articulation, with a posable head, arms and legs. It comes with two alternative hands, allowing for varied display options. The set is presented on a retro blister card, designed to evoke the classic packaging from *Spider-Man: The Animated Series* and to complement the other characters in this Marvel Legends collection.

Character background and universe (Lore)

Alistair Smythe is the son of Spencer Smythe, a scientist involved in the creation of the Spider-Slayers, robots specially designed to track down and eliminate Spider-Man. In *Spider-Man: The Animated Series*, Alistair witnesses his father’s apparent disappearance and holds Spider-Man responsible. He then continues Spencer’s work and develops various Spider-Slayers of his own.

Smythe eventually goes to work for Wilson Fisk, the Kingpin, who exploits his scientific knowledge and his machines in his fight against Spider-Man. After several failures and the deterioration of their relationship, Alistair is subjected, against his will, to a radical transformation orchestrated with the help of Herbert Landon. His body is modified to become the Ultimate Spider-Slayer, a powerful cybernetic creature created to take on the hero directly.

This Marvel Legends figure depicts precisely this transformed incarnation of Alistair Smythe, rather than his usual human form. In the series, his transformation also marks a turning point in his story: Smythe discovers that he himself has been manipulated and eventually turns against those who used him, whilst pursuing his own objectives regarding his father and the Spider-Slayers.
