Origin and character background (Lore)
In the world of animated cinema, Shrek is a cynical, solitary ogre who cherishes his peace and quiet, living a peaceful, secluded life in the midst of his foul-smelling swamp. His life is turned upside down the day the tyrannical Lord Farquaad decides to banish all the magical creatures from the fairy tales in his kingdom, forcing them to seek refuge on the ogre’s land. To reclaim his swamp, Shrek is forced to strike a deal and embark on a heroic quest: to rescue Princess Fiona, who is being held captive in a tower guarded by a fire-breathing dragon. Accompanied, much against his will, by the irrepressible and chatty Donkey, Shrek embarks on a journey that will challenge his preconceptions, help him discover the meaning of true friendship and reveal the hidden nobility of his big green heart. This fold-out figurine celebrates the quintessential anti-hero and the parodic tone of a saga that has become the stuff of legend.
