ROGUE ONE – Antoc Merrick’s X-Wing fighter with minifigure – The Vintage Collection 9.5 cm

Hasbro has recreated the X-Wing fighter piloted by Antoc Merrick, leader of Blue Squadron in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, with this set from Star Wars: The Vintage Collection. The vehicle comes with a 3.75-inch articulated Antoc Merrick figure – approximately 9.5 cm – faithful to the historical scale of this collectable range.

The X-Wing features the colour scheme of Blue Leader’s craft and includes several features designed to replicate the fighter’s various configurations: an opening cockpit, working landing gear, deployable S-foil wings and a projectile launcher. The Antoc Merrick figure, meanwhile, features multiple points of articulation and comes with a removable helmet and a blaster.

Like the other items in The Vintage Collection, the set features a presentation inspired by the classic Kenner toys, with a retro-style design and packaging. This set therefore allows you to display both the pilot and his craft as they appear in *Rogue One*, whilst remaining compatible with the other 3.75-inch figures and vehicles in the range.

Character background and universe (Lore)

Antoc Merrick is a pilot and officer in the Rebel Alliance tasked with commanding the starfighters stationed on Yavin 4 prior to the Battle of the Death Star. He flies under the call sign Blue Leader and places great importance on the cohesion of his squadrons and cooperation amongst the pilots. Before joining the Rebellion, he served in the Rarefied Air Cavalry of Virujansi, where he fought alongside his friend Garven Dreis, the future Red Leader.

The X-wing is one of the Rebel Alliance’s most versatile fighters. Fast and sufficiently armed to take on Imperial craft, it is equipped with four laser cannons, two proton torpedo launchers and movable ‘X’-shaped wings that allow it to switch from a flight configuration to an attack configuration. The actual craft is approximately 13.4 metres long and can also make hyperspace jumps with the aid of an astromech droid.

In Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Merrick commands Blue Squadron during Alliance operations immediately preceding the events of A New Hope. His blue-marked X-Wing thus becomes closely associated with the character and with the Rebel forces’ operations around Scarif, a heavily fortified world where the Empire keeps the plans for the Death Star.
