Recreate the decisive arrival of one of the Four Emperors on the battlefield with this S.H.Figuarts articulated figure of Shanks ‘Marineford’. Produced by Bandai Spirits under the Tamashii Nations brand, it depicts the captain of the Red-Haired Pirates as he appears at the end of the Summit War, when he intervenes to put an end to the clashes between the Navy and the pirates.
The figure stands approximately 16.5 cm tall and features the numerous articulation points characteristic of the S.H.Figuarts range. The shoulders, torso, legs and ankles can be positioned to recreate calm poses, attack moves or the imposing stance adopted by Shanks as he strides across the battlefield. Tamashii Nations places particular emphasis on the range of movement designed to recreate his various actions.
Shanks wears his white shirt wide open across his chest, with the sleeves rolled up to his forearms. The buttons, the folds in the fabric and the varying tensions of the garment are sculpted to maintain a natural look, even when the figure is placed in a dynamic pose.
His loose-fitting black trousers are adorned with light-coloured plant motifs spread across the legs. A red belt encircles his waist, whilst brown sandals complete his outfit. The knee and ankle joints are integrated into the sculpture to preserve the continuity of the silhouette as much as possible.
The face captures the character’s key distinguishing features: his red hair styled in separate strands, his short beard, his clear gaze and the three vertical scars running across his left eye. Several interchangeable expressions are included, allowing Shanks to be displayed with a serious, menacing, smiling or screaming expression. The official product details list four replacement faces in addition to the one fitted to the figure.
Shanks is accompanied by Gryphon, his long-bladed sword with a large golden hilt. Two versions of the weapon are provided: a drawn version for combat scenes and a version sheathed in its scabbard. The visuals show that the sword can be raised above the head, held in front of the body or carried at the hip.
His large black cape is made of fabric. It falls over his left shoulder, covers his back and can be arranged in various ways to complement the chosen pose. Its length and flexibility allow it to simulate a garment billowing in the wind during an attack or a cape draping naturally behind the character.

Shanks, nicknamed ‘the Red-Haired’, is the captain of the Red-Haired Pirates and one of the most influential pirates in the world of One Piece. He is also one of the Four Emperors, the captains regarded as the leading pirate powers of the New World. The official website describes him as a figure of such stature that he is respected even in the highest echelons of the Marines.
In his youth, Shanks was a ship’s boy aboard the Oro Jackson, Gol D. Roger’s ship. He sailed alongside Baggy, amongst others, and was part of the future Pirate King’s crew for part of their voyage.
Later, Shanks founded his own crew and spent some time in the village of Fuchsia, in the East Blue. It was during this period that he met Monkey D. Luffy, who was still a child. Despite the taunts and provocation he was subjected to, Shanks indirectly taught the young boy that a true pirate does not fight solely to defend his pride.
When a sea monster threatened Luffy, Shanks intervened to save his life and lost his left arm. Before setting sail again, he entrusted his straw hat to the boy and asked him to return it once he had become a great pirate. This promise gave Luffy one of his main goals and turned the hat into a symbol of their bond.
The Marineford version of this S.H.Figuarts figure relates to the war sparked by the sentencing of Portgas D. Ace. In an attempt to prevent his execution, Whitebeard and his allies launched a massive attack on Marine Headquarters, where the admirals, vice-admirals and the Great Corsairs were waiting for them.
Despite the efforts of Luffy and Whitebeard’s pirates, Ace was killed by Admiral Akainu whilst protecting his brother. Whitebeard, in turn, died after battling the Navy and Blackbeard’s crew. The fighting continued, however, even though both sides had already suffered heavy losses.
The young Marine Kobby attempted to put an end to the carnage by denouncing the pointless continuation of the fighting. Akainu was about to strike him when Shanks appeared and blocked his attack with Gryphon. This intervention, directly referenced by the name ‘Marineford’, is one of the most memorable moments associated with the character.
Shanks then proposed that the pirates and the Marines lay down their arms. His presence and the strength of his crew were enough to immediately shift the balance on the battlefield. Former Fleet Admiral Sengoku accepted his proposal, officially bringing the War at the Summit to an end.
Although he rarely fought directly during the early parts of the story, Shanks possesses an exceptional mastery of Haki. His King’s Haki allows him to impose his will on his opponents and neutralise the weakest fighters without even touching them.
His demeanour alternates between a relaxed attitude and absolute determination. Shanks enjoys parties, jokes and reunions with his friends, but he shows no mercy to those who threaten his crew members or the people he wishes to protect. The official website specifically highlights this contrast between his usually generous nature and his firmness when a loved one is attacked.
The accessories included with this S.H.Figuarts figure encapsulate two fundamental aspects of the character. Gryphon and the black cape represent the Emperor capable of ending a war through his intervention alone, whilst the straw hat serves as a reminder of the man who entrusted Luffy with a symbol, a promise and the dream of one day becoming a great pirate.
