Narrative context and universe (Lore)
In theOne Piece universe, Gol D. Roger (historically known as Gold Roger) is the legendary King of Pirates and former captain of the Roger Pirates. The only man to have conquered the entire Grand Line and reached the final island of Laugh Tale with his crew, his public execution by the World Government in Loguetown marked the beginning of the ‘Great Age of Piracy’ following his final revelations regarding his treasure, the One Piece.
TheBattle Record Collectionrange captures the character during his active years and major battles, notably against formidable rivals such as Navy Admiral Monkey D. Garp or Edward Newgate (Whitebeard). In battle, Roger possessed no Devil Fruit powers, but dominated through his absolute mastery of the advanced forms of Haki (the fluid), which he channelled through his sword namedAce, one of the twelve blades of supreme quality (Saijo O Wazamono).
