This Banpresto figurine depicts Buggy, the eccentric red-nosed pirate from One Piece, in an enlarged format from the World Collectable Figure Special collection. Standing approximately 16 cm tall, it retains the deliberately exaggerated proportions characteristic of the WCF range whilst offering a significantly more imposing presence than a standard figurine from the range.
Buggy strikes a triumphant pose, with both arms spread wide and his hands raised on either side. His face wears a huge smile, complete with his famous red nose, clown make-up and spiky blue hair framing his face. A wide pink ruff appears beneath his chin, whilst imposing turquoise-blue panels frame his shoulders.
His enormous pirate hat is one of the most striking elements of the design. It combines red and white stripes, a gold border and Buggy’s personal emblem, consisting of a clown’s skull with a red nose accompanied by crossed bones. The ensemble is completed by a huge red cape that extends down to the base of the figurine, deliberately giving the character an exaggerated and theatrical silhouette.

Character background and lore
Buggy is one of the first major pirates encountered by Monkey D. Luffy in One Piece. As captain of the Buggy Pirates, he possesses the powers of the Bara Bara no Mi, a Devil Fruit that allows him to separate his body into different parts and control them independently. His red nose, his penchant for spectacular displays and his explosive temper have earned him his instantly recognisable identity as a clown pirate.
His past, however, is far more distinguished than his behaviour might sometimes suggest. In his youth, Buggy was a ship’s boy aboard Gol D. Roger’s ship alongside Shanks. After the Pirate King’s crew disbanded, their paths diverged and Buggy founded his own crew. As the story unfolds, a series of events and misunderstandings significantly boosts his reputation: notably, he becomes a Grand Corsair and goes on to lead the mercenary organisation Buggy’s Delivery.
Following the collapse of the Grand Corsair system, Buggy found himself linked to Crocodile and Dracule Mihawk within the Cross Guild. A piece of communication that proved particularly advantageous to Buggy led the World Government to believe that he was leading the organisation and that Crocodile and Mihawk were working under his command. This interpretation contributed to his rise to the rank of Emperor of the Seas, whilst the Cross Guild became famous for turning the bounty system on its head by placing bounties on the heads of the Marines itself.
This WCF Special specifically explores this aspect of the character, which has become central to his persona: behind his comical demeanour and numerous misadventures, Buggy is now presented to the world as one of the greatest figures in piracy, a fact deliberately emphasised in an exaggerated manner by his gigantic cape, his hat and his triumphant posture.
