Character background and lore
In the legendary Naruto manga, Sasori, also known as ‘Sasori of the Red Sand’, is an S-rank renegade ninja from the Hidden Village of Suna. Having lost his parents at a very young age during the war, he developed a morbid obsession with puppets, which he saw as the only way to create a form of art that would be eternal and impervious to time and death. Having become the greatest puppeteer in history, he took his macabre experiments to the point of creating ‘human puppets’ from the corpses of elite ninjas to preserve their chakra and techniques, even going so far as to transform his own physical form into a wooden puppet studded with poisoned weapons. A member of the Akatsuki criminal organisation, he teams up with Deidara and uses his chakra threads to manipulate his deadly creations, establishing himself as a ruthless opponent of surgical cruelty.
