Character background and universe (Lore)
In the world of My Hero Academia, where almost the entire global population possesses superpowers known as ‘Alters’, Shota Aizawa is an elite professional hero specialising in night-time combat and ambushes. Under the pseudonym Eraser Head, he teaches with icy pragmatism as the form tutor of Class 1-A at the prestigious Yuei High School. His unique Alter, known as ‘Erasure’, grants him the power to instantly nullify the Alter of anyone within his field of vision, the effect dissipating as soon as he blinks. To compensate for his lack of natural destructive physical abilities, Aizawa has developed absolute mastery of martial arts, coupled with the surgical use of a unique weapon: a long capture scarf made of a carbon fibre and steel nanowire alloy, enabling him to immobilise his opponents in a flash.
