Description

Mazinger Z joins the Gravity Zero range with this articulated figure, measuring approximately 10.5 cm, which recreates the famous super robot created by Go Nagai. Despite its compact size, the model faithfully recreates its classic silhouette: a black and silver body, metallic blue forearms and legs, red chest plates and a distinctive head featuring yellow horns and the Hover Pilder. The figure is made from PVC and ABS.

The articulated design allows for a variety of poses and enables you to recreate different combat stances. The joints in the arms, legs and hips mean you can display Mazinger Z in an attack stance, mid-kick or preparing to use one of its iconic weapons. A black base bearing the Gravity Zero logo is included to facilitate display and stabilise the most dynamic poses.

Several accessories complete the figure. The Jet Scrander can be attached to Mazinger Z’s back to recreate its flight configuration, whilst Iron Cutter parts are fitted to its forearms. A red and orange translucent effect also allows you to recreate the famous Rocket Punch in mid-launch. A ventral mounting piece designed for the Jet Scrander, along with the Gravity Zero base, complete the set.

The metallic finish applied to the blue and silver areas accentuates the robot’s mechanical appearance whilst staying true to the iconic colours of the animated series. Measuring 10.5 cm and featuring numerous accessories, this Gravity Zero version is equally suited to display in a showcase or to creating small battle scenes alongside other super robots from the collection.

Character background and universe (Lore)

Mazinger Z is the super robot piloted by Koji Kabuto in the eponymous animated series which first aired in Japan on 3 December 1972. The original series comprises 92 episodes and features Koji using Mazinger Z to battle the mechanical robots sent by the scientist Dr Hell, who seeks to conquer the world.

The robot was designed by Professor Juzo Kabuto, Koji’s grandfather, using Super Alloy Z and photonic energy. Koji takes control of it via the Pilder, a small device that attaches to Mazinger Z’s head and serves as the cockpit. The idea of a pilot sitting directly inside a giant robot became one of the series’ most striking concepts and played a major part in Mazinger Z’s influence on the super-robot genre.

Mazinger Z boasts a substantial arsenal. Among its most famous attacks are the Rocket Punch, which allows it to hurl its forearms at its opponents, the Breast Fire, fired from the red plates on its chest, and the Rust Hurricane. As the series progresses, its armament is bolstered by various additional weapons, notably the Iron Cutters.

Originally, Mazinger Z cannot fly unaided. This weakness is offset by the arrival of the Jet Scrander, a winged device capable of attaching itself to its back and enabling it to engage in aerial combat. This equipment quickly became one of the robot’s most iconic visual features.

The Gravity Zero figure incorporates several of these key elements from the original series. The Jet Scrander, the Iron Cutters and the Rocket Punch effect thus allow you to depict different stages in the evolution of Mazinger Z’s arsenal and to recreate several of its most recognisable attacks.
