In the cult universe of the Macross Plus OVA,the YF-19 (developed by Shinsei Industry as part of the secret Super Nova project) is an exceptional prototype designed to redefine the future of the New UN forces. While the craft is impressive in Fighter mode thanks to its inverted wings, it is its Battroid configuration — its humanoid mecha form — that reveals its full potential during close-quarters combat and tactical deployments in urban or space environments.

Piloted to the full of its capabilities by the intrepid and unpredictable Isamu Alva Dyson, the YF-19’s Battroid form combines phenomenal agility that mimics human movement with devastating firepower. In this form, the craft makes full use of its arm-mounted anti-projectile shield, head-mounted laser cannon and heavy assault rifle. The design of this mode, which organically fuses the jet’s aeronautical elements (such as the wings folded against its back) with cutting-edge robotic engineering, makes the YF-19 one of the most iconic and respected mechs in the saga.
