Player’s background and career (Lore)
Dominik Szoboszlai is a Hungarian international footballer born on 25 October 2000 in Székesfehérvár. An attacking midfielder, he is particularly noted for his shooting ability, his set-piece skills, his high work rate and his versatility.
He began his professional career in Austria with FC Liefering before joining the first team at Red Bull Salzburg. With the Austrian club, he won several domestic titles and was named the Austrian Bundesliga’s Player of the Season for the 2019–2020 campaign.
In January 2021, he joined RB Leipzig. After being sidelined by injury, he gradually established himself in the German side’s squad and won two consecutive German Cups, in 2022 and 2023.
Liverpool signed Szoboszlai in the summer of 2023. The Hungarian then chose the number 8 shirt, a number notably associated with Steven Gerrard, a player he had admired as a child. His first season with the Reds culminated in a League Cup victory in 2024.
He then played a key role in winning the 2024–2025 Premier League title. His progress continued during the 2025–2026 season, in which he scored 13 goals and provided 12 assists in 53 appearances across all competitions. Liverpool supporters then voted him the club’s best male player of the season.
In the summer of 2026, having made over 100 appearances for the Reds, Szoboszlai signed a new long-term contract with Liverpool. He was also named one of the club’s vice-captains.
On the international stage, Szoboszlai represents Hungary and has worn the captain’s armband for his national team since 2022. His ability to score from distance, his free-kicks and his commitment to pressing make him one of the leading figures in contemporary Hungarian football.
This POP! Football No. 117 figure depicts Dominik Szoboszlai during his time at Liverpool, wearing the Reds’ red kit and striking a pose with the ball at his feet that reflects his dynamic playing style.
