Origin and character’s world
Released in 1989, The Little Mermaid marked the beginning of Disney Studios’ prestigious Second Golden Age, masterfully reviving the animated musical film genre. Ursula, the fearsome and theatrical half-octopus sea witch, is the main antagonist. Exiled from the kingdom of Atlantica by King Triton, she uses her black magic to forge Machiavellian pacts with the hapless mermaids, seizing Ariel’s identity and crystal-clear voice in order to lay claim to the magical trident and reign supreme over the oceans. Inspired by the flamboyant aesthetic of the drag queen scene, Ursula stands out as one of the most charismatic and beloved figures in the Disney Villains franchise. This exclusive ‘Stained Glass’ edition captures her dramatic aura through a poetic, translucent background, ideal for enhancing the collection of classic animation enthusiasts.
