Origin and background of the character
Created in Japan by the famous Sanrio company, Kuromi has quickly established herself as one of the most popular and iconic figures of ‘kawaii’ culture on an international scale. A friendly rival to the sweet and gentle bunny My Melody, she instantly stands out with her decidedly punk and gothic aesthetic, sporting a black jester’s cap adorned with a small pink skull and a little devil’s tail. Behind this tomboyish appearance and her hot-headed temperament lies, in reality, a very sensitive young girl, passionate about writing in her diary, cooking and romantic love stories. This exclusive special edition brilliantly celebrates the 20th anniversary of this memorable anti-heroine, offering a sought-after collector’s item to adorn the display cases of fans of the world of Hello Kitty and her friends.
