Origin and character background
Originally created by the famous Japanese firm Sanrio, Kuromi quickly established herself as one of the most popular and endearing characters in the Hello Kitty universe. A friendly rival to the sweet My Melody, she sports a look inspired by punk and gothic aesthetics, easily recognisable by her black jester’s cap adorned with a small pink skull. Despite her air of a mischievous little rebel who loves playing pranks, Kuromi has a tender heart and is passionate about writing in her diary as well as reading romantic stories. This special Pocket Pop! edition brilliantly celebrates her 20 years in the cultural spotlight, offering a must-have, nostalgic piece for all fans of the ‘kawaii’ universe and Japanese pop culture icons.
