Discover Ludens, the iconic character of Kojima Productions, with this 19 cm plastic model kit designed by Kotobukiya. Created to mark the 10th anniversary of Kojima Productions, this kit brings to life as an articulated model the futuristic silhouette conceived as the identity of Hideo Kojima’s studio. Its design was entirely overseen by art director Yoji Shinkawa, co-creator of the Ludens design.
Once assembled, the model stands approximately 19 cm tall and reproduces Ludens’s distinctive armoured space suit, his imposing helmet and the large flag he carries. Two versions of this flag are included: one black and one made of transparent green plastic. The mask also features two options for the eyes: one pre-painted part and a second unpainted part with sculpted details.
The kit includes four sets of interchangeable hands, as well as a sheet of decals featuring various technical markings and the Kojima Productions logo. Several 3 mm connection points are integrated into the model, allowing the use of weapons and accessories from Kotobukiya’s M.S.G, Frame Arms and Frame Arms Girl ranges. This compatibility thus offers various customisation possibilities beyond the original configuration.

Ludens was not originally the protagonist of a video game: he has been the symbolic character of Kojima Productions since the studio’s founding in 2015. His visual identity was born out of a collaboration between Hideo Kojima and Yoji Shinkawa, who conceived a futuristic explorer embodying the studio’s creative philosophy. Kojima Productions was founded in Tokyo on 16 December 2015 with the motto ‘From Sapiens to Ludens’.
In the official concept for Ludens, his outfit is both a space suit and a suit of armour, designed as the symbolic culmination of the evolution of life on Earth. Driven by boundless curiosity, Ludens explores as yet unknown places across time and space. The flag he carries is not presented as a weapon of conquest, but as a means of marking his arrival in these new territories.
The character thus embodies the idea of ‘Homo Ludens’ – the player – at the heart of Kojima Productions’ philosophy: to create, imagine and push the boundaries of the world through play. To mark the studio’s tenth anniversary, Ludens has also been given a new visual interpretation overseen by Yoji Shinkawa, highlighting his enduring role in representing the identity of Kojima Productions.
This Kotobukiya model kit specifically commemorates the studio’s first decade by offering an articulated and customisable version of its symbol, complete with its flag and key technical details.
