Kiki’s Delivery Service tells the story of Kiki, a thirteen-year-old witch who leaves her family to fulfil the tradition that requires her to spend a year on her own in a new town to continue her training.
Accompanied by her black cat, Jiji, she settles in a coastal town inspired by several European cities. Kiki gradually finds her place there by setting up a delivery service, thanks to her ability to fly on a broomstick.
The town plays a key role in the story: its streets, rooftops, shops and architecture all contribute to the film’s atmosphere and to Kiki’s development, as she learns to become independent whilst building new relationships.
This ‘City of Dreams’ hand towel captures precisely this aspect of the film by showcasing the urban and poetic setting that accompanies Kiki’s adventures throughout her stay.
