Based on K-ON!, this Banpresto figurine depicts Ritsu Tainaka, drummer of Ho-kago Tea Time, as part of the SQ Figure collection. Standing approximately 23 cm tall, she complements the figures of Yui Hirasawa and Mio Akiyama from the same series, faithfully capturing the character’s particularly energetic personality.
Ritsu is depicted in her summer school uniform, consisting of a white short-sleeved shirt, a blue ribbon and a grey pleated skirt. Her short brown hair is held back by her famous yellow headband, leaving her forehead exposed just as in the series. The sculpture depicts her in a dynamic pose, with one arm raised, one leg bent and her face lit up by a wink, emphasising her spontaneous and cheerful nature.
Designed as a non-articulated figurine for display, this SQ Figure is large enough to showcase Ritsu’s silhouette and expression whilst remaining consistent with the other members of Ho-kago Tea Time featured in this collection.
Ritsu Tainaka is one of the main heroines of K-ON! and the drummer in the light music club. At the start of the story, she persuades her childhood friend Mio Akiyama to visit the club, which is in danger of closing down due to a lack of members. Together with Mio and Tsumugi Kotobuki, she then sets about recruiting a fourth musician, before the arrival of Yui Hirasawa. The group would later become Ho-kago Tea Time, with Azusa Nakano also joining them.
Ritsu’s official profile describes her as a rather carefree young girl who pays little attention to detail. She chose the drums largely because instruments requiring more meticulous handling do not suit her. Very close to Mio since nursery school, she enjoys teasing her regularly and also has a keen taste for impressions and comic skits.
This extroverted and dynamic personality contrasts with Mio’s much more reserved nature and plays a major part in maintaining the group’s balance. The leaping pose and wink chosen for this SQ Figure directly capture this energetic side of Ritsu.
