Origin and world of the character
Ryomen Sukuna is the main antagonist of the manga and anime series Jujutsu Kaisen, created by mangaka Gege Akutami. The series follows the journey of Yuji Itadori, a high-school student who, out of necessity, ingests a highly cursed relic finger, becoming the physical host of this historical entity. In the universe of the series, Sukuna is a legendary entity from the Heian era (over 1,000 years ago), known as the 'King of Plagues' because of his destructive power and absolute mastery of occult energy. The setting on the pile of skulls reproduces the altar or inner spiritual territory in which Sukuna resides and interacts with his host.
