Origin and character background (Lore)

Yukime is one of the recurring characters in *Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube*, a manga written by Shou Makura and illustrated by Takeshi Okano, originally published in *Weekly Shonen Jump* between 1993 and 1999. The series follows Meisuke Nueno, nicknamed Nube, a teacher with psychic powers who protects his pupils from yōkai, spirits and occult phenomena.

Yukime is a yuki-onna, a female spirit associated with snow and the cold in Japanese folklore. In the story, she develops a special relationship with Nube, whom she regards as her fiancé and whom she gradually seeks to join in the human world. The official website for the recent anime series also features Yukime amongst the main characters, with Ai Kakuma providing her voice.

Her powers are naturally linked to ice and extreme temperatures, but the character is not defined solely by her yōkai origins. Her sincere attachment to Nube and her gradual adaptation to the human world bring a significant romantic and comic dimension to the series.

Thanks to her elegant design, her affectionate nature and her status as a supernatural creature, Yukime has become one of the most recognisable characters in the *Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube* universe.
