Discover Hatsune Miku in her ‘Matcha Parfait’ version with this large soft toy from FuRyu’s Kyurumaru collection. Standing approximately 28 cm tall, it features a chibi-style design with rounded proportions, inspired by the famous Japanese matcha tea dessert.
Miku is depicted sitting in the characteristic proportions of the Kyurumaru range: a large head, big eyes and a compact silhouette. Her hair features shades of matcha green, cream and pink, whilst her long pigtails are adorned with large bow-shaped decorations. A floral arrangement and a small brooch resembling a skewer of tricoloured dango complete her hairstyle. Her Japanese-inspired outfit, meanwhile, combines shades of olive green, white and brown.
Hatsune Miku is a virtual singer originally developed by Crypton Future Media as voice synthesis software. Her voice is based on recordings by the Japanese actress Saki Fujita, whilst her visual identity – recognisable in particular by her long turquoise pigtails – has been a feature of the software since its inception. Crypton now presents her as a central figure in a vast collaborative creative culture, fuelled by musicians, illustrators and video artists from around the world.
Unlike a character from a traditional manga or anime, Miku does not have a single narrative backstory. This freedom allows creators to reinterpret her in a multitude of costumes, eras and themes. The Matcha Parfait design perfectly illustrates this approach: here, Akakura transforms her appearance around the theme of a Japanese dessert, combining the green of matcha tea, references to traditional sweets and an outfit with Japanese accents.
This Kyurumaru soft toy takes up this concept in a much rounder and more stylised version, whilst retaining enough elements of the original design to make this particular variation of Hatsune Miku instantly recognisable.
