Origin and background of the character
Born Tom Elvis Riddle, Lord Voldemort is a half-blood wizard who became one of the most fearsome dark wizards in the history of magic. He rejected his original identity to adopt a name formed from an anagram of his birth name. Nicknamed ‘The Dark Lord’ by his followers, he gathered the Death Eaters around him to impose his ideology and establish a reign of terror over the wizarding world. His original wand, containing a phoenix feather sharing the same core as Harry Potter’s, is his primary weapon in battle until his quest for the Elder Wand.
