HARRY POTTER - Always - Magnetic Bookmark

This Pyramid International magnetic bookmark, officially licensed by Harry Potter, features one of the most emotionally charged motifs from the series: ‘Always’. Compact and lightweight, it attaches directly to a page thanks to two magnetic parts that snap together, providing a more secure hold than a traditional bookmark simply slipped between the pages. 

The design is predominantly black and white. A large silhouette of a bare tree occupies the centre of the design, accompanied by two small human silhouettes positioned some distance apart. The Harry Potter logo appears at the top, whilst the word ‘always’ is written in large letters at the bottom. This minimalist aesthetic directly evokes the memories and the relationship between Severus Snape and Lily Potter.

Origin and lore

The word ‘Always’ is closely associated with Severus Snape and one of the major revelations in *Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows*. Long portrayed as a cold, hostile teacher towards Harry and a man of many mysteries, Snape gradually reveals himself to be a far more complex character, whose decisions are deeply rooted in his past with Lily Potter.

Snape and Lily have known each other since childhood. Despite their paths gradually drifting apart and Snape’s choices leading to the breakdown of their friendship, he harbours deep feelings for her throughout his life. After Lily’s death, this loyalty becomes one of the main reasons why he agrees to help Albus Dumbledore and protect Harry, despite the aversion he feels towards James Potter’s son. 

This relationship is symbolised by his Patronus. Lily’s Patronus takes the form of a doe, and Severus Snape’s takes exactly the same form. The official Harry Potter website states that Snape’s Patronus represents his love for Harry’s mother. When Dumbledore discovers that this Patronus is still a doe after all these years, Snape’s reply is summed up by the now-famous ‘Always’. 

The ‘Always’ motif has thus become one of the most recognisable symbols in the story of Severus Snape. On this bookmark, it transforms a simple reading accessory into a direct reference to memory, loyalty and the revelations that allow us to reconsider the role played by Snape throughout the Harry Potter saga.
