GUNDAM THE 08TH MS TEAM – MG 1/100 RGM-79[G] GM Sniper – Model Kit

Discover one of the most iconic support Mobile Suits from Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team with this RGM-79[G] GM Sniper from Bandai’s prestigious Master Grade (MG) range. Reproduced at a scale of 1/100, this Gunpla showcases the distinctive military design of this Earth Federation unit, recognisable by its olive-green livery and imposing long-range sniper rifle.

This Master Grade version features a detailed construction incorporating an articulated internal frame, allowing for the recreation of numerous combat poses. The various armour plates cover the mechanical chassis, whilst the joints in the arms, legs and torso allow the GM Sniper to be posed in a firing stance or in more dynamic configurations.

One of the main attractions of this kit is its extensive arsenal. The Long-Range Beam Rifle, the GM Sniper’s signature weapon, can be connected to its external power generator using the cables provided. The model also features a 100 mm machine gun, a Beam Rifle, a missile launcher, a shield and two Beam Sabres, allowing for numerous display configurations. A camouflage net completes the kit and enhances the model’s military appearance. 

Like other Bandai Gunpla kits, the various parts are colour-moulded and use a snap-fit assembly system. Glue is therefore not required to assemble the model. Painting remains optional, but model-makers will naturally be able to enhance the build with panel lining, paint or weathering effects to further enhance the realism of this ground unit.

The RGM-79[G] GM Sniper is a specialised variant of the GM Ground Type developed by the Federation’s ground forces for support operations and very long-range firing. Whilst its general structure remains similar to that of the RGM-79[G], its equipment is adapted for use with the powerful Long-Range Beam Rifle. In particular, an external power and cooling system provides the energy required for this weapon, whilst its olive-green livery contributes to its distinctive military appearance.

Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team is set during the One Year War, in Universal Century 0079, and takes a particularly ground-based and military approach to the clashes between the Earth Federation and the Principality of Zeon. Several GM Snipers were deployed during the final operations of the conflict in South-East Asia, notably against the experimental Apsaras III Mobile Armour, giving this specialised unit a memorable place in the series.
