Origin and background of the character
Released in cinemas in 1984 and directed by Joe Dante, *Gremlins* is a cult horror comedy that has left its mark on pop culture history. The plot thickens when young Billy receives a Mogwai for Christmas – a strange little furry creature named Gizmo. Caring for him requires strict adherence to three fundamental rules: do not expose him to bright light, do not get him wet and, above all, never feed him after midnight.
