Meet Michael ‘Mikey’ Walsh, the young adventurer at the heart of The Goonies, with this POP! Sayings No. 2167 figurine from Funko. This special edition pairs the character with one of his iconic lines from the film, depicted as a speech bubble integrated into the backdrop: ‘Down here, it’s our time. It’s our time down here.’
Mikey is depicted with his brown hair and freckles, wearing a blue jacket, dark trousers and grey trainers. In one hand, he holds an object reminiscent of the treasure map that sets the Goonies’ adventure in motion, whilst his other arm is outstretched in a pose reminiscent of the speech he gives to his friends. The large speech bubble placed behind his head is the distinctive feature of this POP! Sayings version

Mikey Walsh is one of the main members of the Goonies and plays a leading role in their adventure. When his family and those of his friends are in danger of losing their homes, he discovers an old map in the loft leading to the treasure of the pirate One-Eyed Willy. Convinced that this discovery could save their neighbourhood, he leads Data, Chunk, Mouth and the others on an expedition through a network of underground passages and traps.
The quote featured on this POP! comes at the moment when the group is considering giving up on their quest. Mikey then reminds his friends that their parents usually make the decisions ‘up there’, but that down in the underground tunnels, it’s their time to shine. This speech sums up his determination to continue the adventure despite the dangers and is one of the moments that establishes Mikey as the true driving force behind the group.
