GI JOE - David Taputapu & Varujan - Fig. Classified Series #193 15cm

This Hasbro G.I. Joe Classified Series set No. 193 brings together David ‘Red Dog’ Taputapu and Varujan ‘Taurus’ Ayvazyan, two members of the Renegades led by Sgt. Slaughter. Inspired by their classic look in *G.I. Joe: The Movie*, both figures have been reimagined to suit the modern format of the Classified Series range.

Red Dog and Taurus each measure approximately 15 cm and feature numerous points of articulation, allowing for a variety of action poses. The figures boast a high level of detail and premium paintwork whilst retaining the visual elements associated with the original characters.

The set includes a total of 20 accessories inspired by the equipment of the two Renegades. Red Dog comes with interchangeable hands, an American football, a kicking tee, a rucksack, a knife and various melee weapons, including a Fa’alaufa’i. Taurus also features interchangeable hands, a knife, an Ottoman-inspired battle axe, a kilij sabre and other weaponry accessories.

Character background and lore

David ‘Red Dog’ Taputapu and Varujan ‘Taurus’ Ayvazyan belong to the Renegades, an unconventional unit within the G.I. Joe universe under the command of Sgt. Slaughter. Unlike the organisation’s more conventional units, the Renegades specialise in missions requiring particularly direct and unorthodox methods.

Red Dog has a background as an American football player and retains this identity in his kit, notably thanks to the football and kicking tee included in this set. Taurus, meanwhile, stands out for his physical strength and his close-quarters combat arsenal, which includes an axe and a kilij sabre.

The Renegades feature notably in *G.I. Joe: The Movie*, where Red Dog and Taurus fight alongside Mercer under the supervision of Sgt. Slaughter. The Classified Series version modernises their classic design whilst retaining their status as rugged, maverick fighters specialising in unconventional missions.
