Description

Ghost in the Shell — Motoko Kusanagi S.H.Figuarts Articulated Figure, 14 cm

Take command of Section 9 with this articulated Motoko Kusanagi figure from Bandai Tamashii Nations’ S.H.Figuarts range. Inspired by the animated series Ghost in the Shell: The Ghost in the Shell, this version recreates the Major’s new design and features numerous interchangeable parts to recreate scenes of action, infiltration and armed combat.

The figure captures Motoko’s cybernetic silhouette with her short purple hair, dark tactical outfit and various protective gear. The sculpt retains natural proportions whilst incorporating numerous points of articulation. The mechanism used at the hips includes a sliding lateral extension, designed to facilitate poses with the legs close together and dynamic movements.

This structure allows for the recreation of realistic firing positions, observation stances or close-quarters combat movements. The four pairs of interchangeable hands can be used to hold weapons, form fists or create different poses corresponding to the character’s tactical role.

The set includes two weapons from the series’ universe: the Seburo M5 and the Seburo C-25. A replacement holster allows Motoko’s equipment to be adapted to the weapon being used. A front hairpiece with a visor is also included to present the Major in a look more suited to field operations and tactical analysis.

Four interchangeable facial expressions allow you to vary her appearance depending on the scene being depicted. Standing approximately 14 cm tall, this PVC and ABS figurine can be displayed on its own or alongside the Fuchikoma from the Robot Spirits range, sold separately. The rear cockpit of the Fuchikoma is designed to accommodate Motoko and recreate her missions at the vehicle’s controls.

Character background and lore

Motoko Kusanagi is a full cyborg with exceptional abilities in combat, computer hacking and cybernetics. Following a military reorganisation, she joined Section 9 of the Public Security Bureau at the request of Daisuke Aramaki and took tactical command of the ‘Shell Squad’.

Her entirely artificial body gives her strength, speed and reflexes superior to those of an ordinary human. Her cybernetic brain also enables her to connect directly to networks, conduct digital investigations and confront hackers capable of manipulating their victims’ memories, perceptions or identities.

Created by Masamune Shirow, the Ghost in the Shell universe is set in a society where the boundary between human and machine has become particularly fragile. Through the missions of Motoko and Section 9, the series explores cyberterrorism, artificial intelligence, artificial bodies and the question of personal identity in a deeply connected world.

Despite the power of her mechanical body, Motoko regularly questions the nature of her consciousness and what constitutes her ‘ghost’ – that is, the intimate, human part that remains within her artificial shell. This tension between technology, memory and individuality is one of the central themes of the entire franchise.
