Meet Tengen Uzui, the Sound Pillar from Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, with this articulated S.H.Figuarts figurine developed by Bandai Spirits / Tamashii Nations. Standing at approximately 16.5 cm, it captures the character’s imposing silhouette and flamboyant style, whilst offering a wide range of articulation designed to recreate his poses and battle scenes from the anime. 

The figure features Tengen’s signature outfit: a black, sleeveless Demon Slayer Corps uniform, gold arm guards, leg wraps, a wide headband set with stones, and hanging ornaments around his face. His two imposing Nichirin blades, linked together, naturally form the centrepiece of his armament. Tamashii Nations allows them to be displayed either sheathed at his back or drawn for combat poses.

Several interchangeable parts complete the figure: four alternative expressions in addition to the standard face, two pairs of interchangeable hands, alternative head parts, the Nichirin sword set, and a set reproducing the sarashi – the long strips of fabric associated with the character’s costume. Even the back section of his hair features specific joints to allow for movement in the most dynamic poses.

Character background and lore

Tengen Uzui is one of the Hashira, the highest-ranking swordsmen of the Demon Slayer Corps. More specifically, he holds the title of Sound Hashira and uses the Sound Breathing fighting style. Before becoming a Demon Slayer, Tengen was trained as a shinobi, a background that explains, in particular, his physical abilities, agility and tactical approach to combat. The anime’s official website also highlights his strong penchant for anything he considers ‘flamboyant’.

Tengen plays a central role in the Entertainment District arc, where he leads Tanjiro Kamado, Zenitsu Agatsuma and Inosuke Hashibira on a mission to investigate the presence of demons in the district. His mastery of combat, his experience as a shinobi and his two large Nichirin blades make him one of the main fighters in this arc.

His spectacular appearance directly reflects his personality: gemstones on his headband, golden ornaments, eye make-up and oversized weapons all contribute to the Sound Pillar’s highly flamboyant image. Behind this flamboyance, however, lies an experienced fighter who is particularly mindful of the survival of those accompanying him.
