Origin and backstory of the character
First appearing in 1958, created by France Herron, the concept of Zur-En-Arrh originally referred to a distant planet where an alien Batman named Tlano operated. However, in 2008, writer Grant Morrison masterfully reimagined this concept in the modern Batman R.I.P. story arc . Zur-En-Arrh then became a psychological alter ego, created from scratch by Bruce Wayne himself. Activated by the trigger phrase ‘Zorro at the wheel’, this mental alter ego takes control if Bruce’s mind is shattered or subjected to a severe psychological attack. This Batman, devoid of any moral restraint, violent and driven by hallucinations (represented by the Bat-Mite), acts as a formidable psychic defence mechanism.
This Funko vinyl figure perfectly recreates the eccentric and memorable costume crafted by Bruce during his psychotic delusion from makeshift rags. It features a palette of bright, contrasting colours that stand in stark contrast to the classic Dark Knight: a bright red torso, purple arms and legs, and a section of dazzling yellow that wraps around his shoulders and mask. A fascinating and psychedelic collector’s item, essential for showcasing the narrative complexity and editorial history of the Bat in your display cabinet.
