Origin and character background (Lore)

Jiji, whose real name is Jin Enjoji, is one of the recurring characters in Dandadan, a manga created by Yukinobu Tatsu. A childhood friend of Momo Ayase, he re-enters her life when her family begins to face strange supernatural phenomena.

Jiji stands out for his outgoing nature, his sometimes absurd sense of humour and his very expressive manner. Behind this light-hearted personality, however, lies a deeply loyal character, capable of becoming very serious when those close to him are threatened.

His ‘Transformed’ form is linked to the influence of the Evil Eye, a powerful supernatural entity that takes possession of his body. This transformation radically alters his appearance and grants him strength and abilities far superior to those of an ordinary human.

The conflict between Jiji and the Evil Eye plays a significant role in the story and reinforces the central theme of *Dandadan*, where aliens, spirits, curses and paranormal powers constantly intersect. This transformed version therefore represents one of the character’s most spectacular and memorable facets.
