Taken from the world of *Bleach*, this Banpresto figurine depicts Kisuke Urahara, former captain of the 12th Division of the Gotei 13 and founder of the Technology Development Bureau. Standing approximately 25 cm tall, it is part of the Ichibansho / MASTERLISE – Stirring Souls Vol. 4 collection, a series featuring several major characters from Tite Kubo’s work.
Urahara is depicted in his instantly recognisable appearance: a green and white striped bob cut, tousled blond hair, a traditional dark green outfit and a long black coat whose folds appear to be swept up by his movement. The white diamond-shaped patterns at the bottom of the coat and his traditional geta sandals faithfully complete his silhouette.
The pose particularly highlights Benihime, his Zanpakutō. Urahara holds his unsheathed weapon out in front of him, whilst maintaining a calm and composed demeanour that reflects the character’s characteristic contrast: a laid-back appearance concealing a particularly dangerous fighter and strategist. The sculpture also captures the movement of the cloak and the folds of the clothing to lend greater dynamism to the overall piece.
Kisuke Urahara is a former captain of the 12th Division of the Gotei 13 and the first director of the Soul Society’s Technology Development Bureau. Having subsequently settled in the human world, he runs a small shop in Karakura called the Urahara Shop, which also serves as his base for supplying equipment to Shinigami and dealing with supernatural matters.
Beneath his seemingly carefree demeanour, his jokes and his famous hat lies a highly experienced scientist and tactician. In particular, Urahara plays a decisive role in Ichigo Kurosaki’s development, helping him on several occasions to understand, rediscover and master his Shinigami powers. His scientific expertise and ability to devise complex plans also make him an essential ally when threats extend beyond Karakura.
His Zanpakutō is called Benihime. The weapon is usually concealed in the form of a walking stick, perfectly in keeping with his appearance as an eccentric shopkeeper. Behind this façade, however, Urahara possesses the abilities of a former captain and an exceptional knowledge of spiritual techniques, which explains the central role he plays in many of Bleach’s major battles.
In *Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War*, he continues to support Ichigo and his allies, intervening notably during the crisis affecting Hueco Mundo and later in the operations relating to the Wandenreich invasion. This MASTERLISE figurine perfectly captures the character’s duality: the relaxed demeanour of the owner of Urahara Shop, combined with Benihime drawn and the presence of a former captain ready for battle.
