Origin and character’s backstory (Lore)

Black Butler, created by Yana Toboso, is set primarily in Victorian England during the second half of the 19th century. The story follows Ciel Phantomhive, the young heir to the Phantomhive family, accompanied by his butler Sebastian Michaelis, whose abilities far exceed those of an ordinary servant.

Following the death of his parents in a fire, Ciel becomes both the Earl of Phantomhive and the head of the family estate. Despite his young age, he must manage his family’s legacy whilst investigating London’s darkest affairs. In particular, he operates behind the scenes in the service of the Crown, in a role often associated with the nickname ‘the Queen’s watchdog’.

Ciel is bound to Sebastian by a supernatural pact: the butler is in fact a demon who carries out his orders in exchange for a reward once their contract expires. This relationship is one of the key driving forces behind *Black Butler*, blending investigation, revenge, fantasy and a Victorian Gothic atmosphere.

This 20 cm Luminasta Ciel Phantomhive figurine thus pays tribute to the young count at the heart of Black Butler, a character defined by his aristocratic status, his intelligence and the pact that binds him to Sebastian.
