See Guts clad in the Berserker Armour whilst still retaining his sanity with this POP UP PARADE SP figurine designed by Max Factory. Based on the Berserk manga, this [Berserker -Sane-] version offers a particularly imposing depiction of the Black Warrior, with a total width of approximately 30 cm when his immense Dragon Slayer sword is included. The POP UP PARADE SP range emphasises more elaborate sculpting and painting than the standard models in the collection.
Guts is depicted fully clad in the Berserker Armour, whose numerous black plates, spikes and angular surfaces are reproduced in great detail. Unlike depictions where the armour fully takes on the bestial form associated with his loss of control, this version portrays Guts as still capable of retaining his sanity in the midst of battle. His face remains partially visible beneath the helmet, giving the composition a distinct identity from versions entirely dominated by the Beast of Darkness.
The imposing Dragon Slayer takes up a large part of the figure and contributes directly to the width of some 30 cm announced by Max Factory. Its sheer size contrasts with Guts’ aggressive stance and serves as a reminder that this gigantic blade is his primary weapon against the Apostles and other supernatural creatures. The detailed sculpting of the armour and the various metallic shades reinforce the dark, weathered appearance of his equipment.

Character background and universe (Lore)
Guts is the protagonist of Berserk, a manga created by Kentaro Miura. A mercenary since childhood, he became one of the leading fighters in the Band of the Hawk led by Griffith before the events of the Eclipse forever changed his life. A survivor marked by the Seal of Sacrifice, Guts then embarks on a long struggle against the Apostles and supernatural forces, armed in particular with his immense Dragon Slayer sword.
The Berserker Armour appears when Guts and his companions find themselves confronted by the Apostles attacking the estate of the witch Flora. The armour allows its wearer to transcend the body’s natural physical limits, notably by eliminating the perception of pain and fear. Kentaro Miura himself explained that the principle behind it is to release Guts’ ‘limitations’ and allow him to fight in a state where he can set aside his reason.
However, this power comes at a considerable cost. The armour does not actually heal its wearer: it simply allows him to continue fighting despite his injuries and can, in particular, forcibly hold broken bones together. By suppressing pain and the body’s natural defence mechanisms, it pushes Guts to levels that could kill him through exhaustion or blood loss. It also amplifies his most violent instincts and can allow the Beast of Darkness to take control of his mind.
Schierke therefore plays a vital role. Thanks to her magical abilities, she can connect with Guts’s consciousness whilst he is wearing the armour and help him retain his identity, preventing him from sinking completely into a rage and losing the ability to distinguish his allies from his enemies.
