Origin and character background (Lore)
Koro-sensei is one of the main characters in *Assassination Classroom*, a manga created by Yūsei Matsui. He becomes the form tutor for Class 3-E at Kunugigaoka Junior High School after destroying a large part of the Moon and announcing that he will do the same to the Earth at the end of the school year.
Despite this threat, Koro-sensei himself proposes a particularly unusual arrangement: the pupils must attempt to assassinate him before the deadline, whilst he undertakes to teach them and help them progress.
The task is particularly difficult, as Koro-sensei can reach speeds of around Mach 20 and possesses extraordinary physical abilities. The pupils are therefore given special weapons designed to harm him without posing a danger to humans.
As the story unfolds, however, Koro-sensei proves to be an extremely attentive teacher. He tailors his methods to each pupil, identifies their weaknesses and encourages them to develop both their academic and personal abilities.
His appearance as a yellow, tentacled creature, his perpetual smile and the many colours his face can take on depending on his emotions make him one of the most recognisable characters in *Assassination Classroom*.
